SCIDYNE: Product Selection Overview

SCIDYNE manufactures electronic products for global industrial and OEM markets. We have established ourselves with the reputation for providing high quality products and outstanding after sale support. Featured in our product line are plug-in peripheral boards for PC/104 bus. We are continuously adding more products as the use of embedded applications continues to expand. Some of our more popular products are shown below.

PC/104 Peripheral Modules

PC/104 is an industry standard which defines a mechanical and electrical specification for rugged small form-factor computer systems. Boards follow a 3.6” x 3.8” size and connect together using a stack-together bus arrangement. Simply mix and match processor and peripheral hardware to meet your requirements. Advantages include accelerated time-to-market, lower development costs, design flexibility, and the ability to use standard PC software. These important attributes have made PC/104 the ideal choice for demanding applications including Industrial Control, Military, Medical, and Aerospace.

General Purpose Analog I/O and Digital I/O Module
One of our most popular products and for very good reasons. Featuring eight 12-bit multi-range analog inputs, four 12-bit multi-range analog outputs and 24 digital I/O channels. This cost effective PC/104 module combines the peripherals and specifications needed to satisfy a variety of applications.
Combination Analog I/O and Digital I/O Module
Sixteen 12-bit multi-range analog inputs, Eight 12-bit multi-range analog outputs, 24 digital I/O channels, Four high voltage open-drain MOSFET digital outputs, and one binary counter.
24-Bit Digital Input/Output PC/104 Module
Each channel can be configured via software for input or output operations. High current outputs (85ma sink) directly drive heavy loads. Inputs have pull-ups and interrupt capability.
Relay Output / Opto-Isolated Input PC/104 Module
Eight SPDT relays and eight optically isolated AC/DC digital inputs provide 500V isolation between host and external devices. Separate and isolated field wiring for each I/O channel allows the controlling and monitoring of any combination of AC and DC signals. Input interrupt generation and filtering provides extra versatility.
96-Bit High-Density Digital I/O Module
The DIO96-104 was designed for PC/104 applications requiring a high number of digital I/O channels. Four industry standard 82C55A chips are used, each providing 24 bits across three 8-bit ports. The 82C55A is a very versatile device and features programmable port directions and strobed handshaking.
PC/104 I/O Coprocessor Module
An on-board Microchip PIC microcontroller controls all module operations without host intervention. Standard peripherals include: multi-channel 12-Bit and 8-bit A/D, dual 12-bit D/A, RS232/RS485 serial communications, digital I/O and prototyping area for through hole and surface mount chips. Simplified software development using SCIDYNE's exclusive IOCPbios (included).

Development Tools
Prototyping module for PC/104 bus
Available in two versions. The 'B' version features a reusable solderless bread board. The S' version is ideal when permanent and durable construction is required. Both versions offer onboard I/O decoding , buffered data bus and easy access to all J1/P1 PC/104 bus signals.
16-Bit upgrade for PROTO-8
Use our PROTO-8 in more sophisticated 16-bit designs. The P8-16 offers the same ease of use that has made our PROTO-8 products so popular; clearly labeled signal designations and simple "no soldering required" breadboard techniques.
16-Bit ISA bus to PC/104 bus adapter
Allows PC/104 modules to be used in a standard legacy AT style computer. Develop PC/104 hardware, software and applications using all the facilities of a full featured desktop machine. Includes prototyping area for building custom circuitry.

Signal Conditioning and System Expansion

Interfacing embedded computers to real-world devices is easy with our XIO boards. Mix-and-match among functions to meet your application, such as high-current relay outputs or AC/DC inputs. The boards connect to your computers digital I/O ports through standard IDC ribbon cable. Multiple XIO boards can be daisy-chained together to create special I/O arrangements such as high-count multi-pole relays. Standard features include detachable screw-terminals for convenient wiring to field devices, and built-in status LED's which clearly show each boards operation.

Eight Channel Relay Output
The XIO-RO8 adds eight 10A SPDT (Form-C) relays outputs to typical digital I/O peripheral boards. Flexible configurations include programmable control signal polarity and selection of control signal pull-up or pull-down resistors.
8-Bit Digital Input
Adds eight channel AC/DC monitoring capability to any digital port. Configurable input voltage range on each input channel. AC filters for reliable signal detection.

Terminal Boards

Straight-forward and reliable transition between connector based equipment and discrete field wiring.  Flexible mounting options simplifies your system designs.

Universal Terminal Board
Ideal for creating custom circuitry between your embedded system peripherals and field wiring. Includes a 16-position removable screw terminal block and prototyping area. Holes provided for easy wiring access to any combination of IDC type headers up to 64 positions and 25 position D-SUBs. Mounts using standoffs, SNAPTRACK or on DIN rail with optional adapter clips.
Ribbon Cable to Screw Terminal Boards
This series of inexpensive terminal boards are available in sizes of 20, 26, 34, 40, 50 and 60 positions. They provide a solid and direct interface between multi-conductor IDC ribbon cables and discrete field wiring up to 12AWG. In addition, each board has a prototyping area for placing intermediate custom circuitry. Mounts using standoffs, SNAPTRACK or on DIN rail with optional adapter clips. Works with products from SCIDYNE as well as those from other manufacturers.

Ribbon Cables

All ribbon cables feature keyed IDC connectors on each end, are gray in color with pin #1 clearly identified with single red conductor.  Standard cable length is 18 inches. Other sizes and configurations are available.
